Here is the weekly review of the top performing DR Congolese players, who play currently abroad.


Emmanuel Mudiay

   #1. This week's number one is former international guard Emmanuel Mudiay (196-96, currently plays in NBA). He led Utah Jazz to a victory against the Dallas Mavericks (33-22) 123-119 in the NBA last Monday. Mudiay scored 12 points. The Utah Jazz has a solid 35-19 record this season. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. It's Mudiay's first year with the team. He has relatively good stats this season: 7.3ppg, 2.4rpg, 2.3apg, 2FGP: 50.7%, 3FGP: 36.1% and FT: 72.6%. Mudiay played for the DR Congolese senior national team three years ago.

   #2. Second place goes to former international power forward Ruphin Kayembe (201-92, currently plays in France). He could not help ALM Evreux (7-13) in their last game. Despite Kayembe's very good performance ALM Evreux was badly defeated 93-77 on the road by the much higher-ranked (#4) Saint Chamond. He was the top scorer with 19 points. Kayembe also added 4 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 26 minutes. It was ALM Evreux's third consecutive loss in a row. This year Kayembe has relatively solid stats: 13.5ppg, 5.8rpg, 1.7apg, 2FGP: 62.7%(94-150) and FT: 70.1% in 19 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: DR Congolese and Belgian. Kayembe played for the DR Congolese national team in 2018.

   #3. The DR Congolese player who performed third best last week abroad was former international guard Myck Kabongo (190-92, college: Texas, currently plays in Denmark). He was not able to help Svendborg (11-9) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Kabongo's very good performance the fourth-placed Svendborg (11-9) was defeated 83-75 in Risskov by the second-ranked Bakken in the Pro A group. He was the top scorer with 17 points. Kabongo also added 7 rebounds and dished 3 assists. It's Kabongo's first season with the team. He has reliable stats this year: 12.8ppg, 3.2rpg, 2.8apg, 1.5spg, 2FGP: 42.0%, 3FGP: 31.5% and FT: 72.1%. Kabongo is another player who holds two passports: DR Congolese and Canadian. He played for the DR Congolese national team three years ago.

   #4. Guard Mathieu Kamba (196-95, agency: Dynamics Global Management, college: Cent Arkansas, currently plays in Spain) was not able to secure a victory for Leyma Basquet (15-7) in their last game on Friday. Despite his very good performance Leyma Basquet was defeated 83-68 in Castellon by the much lower-ranked Castello (#12). Kamba was the top scorer with 19 points. He also added 3 passes. Kamba's stats this season are: 10.9ppg, 2.9rpg and 1.3apg. He has both DR Congolese and Canadian nationalities. Kamba used to play for the DR Congolese national team back in 2018.

   #5. International forward Eric Kibi (198-90, college: Abil.Christian, currently plays in Argentina) couldn't help Tiro Federal (5-20) in their last game. Despite Kibi's good performance Tiro Federal (#7) lost 57-61 on the opponent's court to the higher-ranked (#6) Rivadavia in the Conferencia Noroeste. He had a double-double by scoring 13 points and getting 19 rebounds in 37 minutes. It was Tiro Federal's third consecutive loss in a row. Kibi's stats this year are: 12.1ppg and 9.1rpg in 10 games. Similarly like Kamba and Kabongo above he also holds two passports: DR Congolese and Canadian. Kibi plays currently for the DR Congolese national team.

   #6. An experienced forward Djo Loo Yele (203-82, currently plays in Norway) led Asker Aliens to a victory over the closely-ranked Centrum (7-17) 74-65 in the Norwegian BLNO last Wednesday. He was MVP of the game. Loo Yele had a double-double by scoring 26 points and getting 16 rebounds. He also added and 3 steals in 32 minutes. Asker Aliens BC (5-17) is placed second from the bottom (#9) in the BLNO. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Loo Yele is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his eighth year in Asker Aliens' roster. Loo Yele has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 17.5ppg, 10.7rpg, 1.5apg, 1.7bpg and 1.3spg in 15 games. Loo Yele is a former international player as he played for the DR Congolese senior team two years ago.

Former international forward Chadrack Lufile (206-90, agency: Interperformances, college: Wichita St., currently plays in Argentina) couldn't help Estudiantes Concordia (6-18) in their game against Quimsa (15-3) in the Argentinian La Liga. Lufile cannot count Wednesday's game as one of the best ones. He recorded only 2 points in 12 minutes. Estudiantes Concordia lost 86-97 in Santiado del Estero to the leading Quimsa. This year Lufile's overall stats are: 7.4ppg and 5.1rpg in eight games. He used to play for the DR Congolese national team three years ago.

Swingman Shekinah Munanga (201-97, currently plays in France) was the main contributor in a 2-point GET Vosges' victory against the eighth-ranked Andrezieux (13-12) 61-59 in the French NM1 (third division) on Friday night. He was the best player in that game. Munanga had a double-double by scoring 16 points and getting 15 rebounds. He also added 4 assists in 31 minutes. Golbey Epinal Thaon Vosges (11-13) is placed tenth in Group B. They ended the series of four consecutive loses. Munanga's team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And now that game is very crucial. Munanga averaged so far 11.7ppg, 7.7rpg, 1.8apg and 1.1bpg in 23 games. He used to play for the DR Congolese national team back in 2018.

   #9. Former U18 international swingman Garmine Kande (99, currently plays in France) couldn't help Aix-Maurienne (8-12) in their game against Provence Basket (9-11) in the French ProB (second division). Kande scored 6 points. Aix-Maurienne was defeated 83-78 in Fos-sur-Mer by the higher-ranked Provence Basket (#11). It was Aix-Maurienne's fourth consecutive loss in a row. Kande's total stats this season are: 5.0ppg and 1.3rpg. He used to play for the DR Congolese U18 national team four years ago.

Power forward Evariste Shonganya (204-92, currently plays in Spain) contributed to an UBU Tizona's victory against the 11th-ranked Gijon (8-14) 81-73 in the Spanish LEB Silver (third division) last Saturday. Shonganya recorded 8 points in 18 minutes. UBU Tizona Burgos (15-7) is placed first in East group. The Regular Season already ended. This year Shonganya's total stats are: 6.0ppg, 4.1rpg and 1.4apg in nine games. He is an international player who is currently on the senior DR Congolese National Team roster.

   #11. Former international center Gullit Mukendi (203-96, agency: Promo Sport ID, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help Villarrobledo in their game against CBA Gran Canaria 2nd team in the Spanish LEB Silver (third division). He recorded 6 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 15 minutes. His team was edged 82-80. Mukendi has averaged so far 8.2ppg and 3.0rpg in 22 games. He used to play for the DR Congolese national team two years ago.

   #12. Former U18 international power forward Christian Musoko (203-96, college: S.Utah, currently plays in Spain) contributed to an easy victory against the fifth-ranked Cornella crushing them 96-66 in the Spanish EBA (fourth division) last Saturday. He scored 8 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in only 14 minutes. Musoko has averaged so far 5.5ppg and 8.0rpg in two games. He used to play for the DR Congolese U18 national team back in 2012.


The list of other players, who all have DR Congolese passport but never been selected to any of DR Congolese national teams:

   #1. Bismack Biyombo (206-C-92, currently plays in NBA) led Charlotte Hornets to a victory against the Minnesota Timberwolves (16-37) 115-108 in the NBA in Wednesday night's game. He had a double-double by scoring 14 points and getting 10 rebounds in 26 minutes. The Charlotte Hornets have rather weak 18-36 record this season. Biyombo has relatively good stats this year: 7.5ppg and 5.8rpg in 45 games he played so far.

   #2. Junior Etou (203-F-94, college: Tulsa, currently plays in Germany). Etou could not help s Oliver Baskets (14-3) to beat BBC Bayreuth (9-10). He scored 6 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 19 minutes. The league leader s Oliver Baskets was badly defeated 85-66 on the road by the much lower-ranked (#11) BBC Bayreuth. This year Etou's overall stats are: 9.0ppg and 4.3rpg in 12 games.

   #3. Oscar Tshiebwe (206-PF-99, currently plays college basketball in the States), who plays in the NCAA was not able to help the the league outsider WVU in their last game. Despite his good performance the WVU lost 59-70 at home to the Baylor University. Tshiebwe had a double-double by scoring 11 points and getting 12 rebounds. He also added 2 blocks in 32 minutes. Tshiebwe's stats this year are: 11.6ppg, 9.2rpg and 1.2bpg in 25 games.

   #4. Experienced Wen Boss Mukubu (198-SF-83, college: UAB, currently plays in Belgium) managed to help Hubo Limburg United to win against the eighth-ranked Okapi Aalstar (6-9) 68-62 in the Belgian Euromillions League last Friday. He scored 5 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Hubo Limburg United (9-7) is placed fourth in the Euromillions League. It was his team's first victory after four consecutive loses. Mukubu is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Limburg United's roster. This season Mukubu averages: 7.7ppg, 3.8rpg, 1.5apg and 1.1spg. He has a dual citizenship: DR Congolese and Belgian.

   #5. Joel Kabimba (203-F, currently studies in the States) contributed to Stetson's victory against the University of North Alabama (4-3) 75-64 in the NCAA in Thursday night's game. He scored 16 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. The Stetson University has a solid 4-2 conference record this season. Kabimba's overall stats this year are: 5.1ppg and 3.5rpg.

   #6. Brice Massamba (208-F/C-88, college: UNLV, currently plays in Sweden) contributed to an easy victory against the eighth-ranked Nassjo crushing them 98-75 in the Swedish Basketligan on Friday night. He recorded only 2 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. This season Massamba averages just 2.1ppg. He is another player who holds two passports: DR Congolese and Swedish.

   #7. Cedric Belemene-Dzabatou (199-F-96, agency: Interperformances, college: Tampa, currently plays in Spain) contributed to Azuqueca's victory against the tenth-ranked Nautico Tenerife 84-80 in the Spanish EBA (fourth division) last Saturday. Belemene-Dzabatou scored 7 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Belemene-Dzabatou's total stats this season are: 7.9ppg, 7.9rpg and 1.6spg.

   #8. Bitumba Baruti (201-G, is currently at the American university) was not able to secure a victory for the ECU in their game against the University of Cincinnati in the NCAA. Baruti cannot count Sunday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only 2 points. His team was edged 70-67. Baruti has averaged so far 4.1ppg and 3.8rpg.

   #9. Joseph Vita Sadi (198-F/C-97, currently plays in Italy) couldn't help Montecatiniterme in their game against Omegna in the Italian Serie B (third division). Vita Sadi recorded 9 points. His team was defeated 81-71. Vita Sadi has averaged so far 6.5ppg and 5.2rpg.

   #10. David Efambe (201-F-1, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help Barbera in their game against Mataro Feimat in the Spanish EBA (fourth division). He cannot count Sunday's game as one of the best ones. Efambe scored only 2 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 19 minutes. His team lost 61-72. Efambe has averaged so far 6.3ppg and 5.4rpg in 12 games.
